A suspected rapist, Abdullahi Umar, 40, who was on bail over an alleged rape charge, has allegedly raped three primary school girls in Malumfashi council area of Katsina State.

Umar was at the weekend ordered to be remanded in prison custody till June 12 by a Katsina senior magistrate court when his case was slated for mention.

The police had dragged the accused before the court on a one-count charge of rape, an offence contrary to section 283 of the Penal code law.

The court was told that the headmaster of Sallau Primary School, in the council area, Umar Mohammed had on April 10, 2018 reported the accused at the Malumfashi police station.

The school headmaster reported that Umar had on that day and other days, allegedly deceived and induced three pupils of the school with money, to have “several” sexual intercourse with them in his house.

The police said the accused had during investigation confessed to have committed the offence. It said the accused allegedly confessed that he had earlier committed similar offence on April 29, 2015 and was on bail when he committed the current offence.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, told the court that investigation was still in progress on the case and requested for an adjournment to a new date.

Mrs. Fadile Dikko, who presided at the court granted the request and adjourned the case to June 12 for mention. Dillon, however, directed that Umar be remanded in prison custody till said date.
