Ortom Alerts Security Of Fresh Plot To Attack Benue Communities
Not less than two persons were yesterday feared killed by suspected herdsmen who attacked farmers in their farms at Angela village in Guma Council of Benue State.

A local in the council ward where the attack took place, who simply identified himself as Jonah, said the herdsmen come in through Nasarawa State to the area to graze their cows and in the process attacked the victims in their farms.

Jonah said since the deployment of Operation Whirl Stroke in their area, the herdsmen had left their communities to stay along Nasarawa border with Benue, adding: “But they always come to Benue communities that border Nasarawa to graze their cows, only for them yesterday (on Thursday) to attack and kill the victims in their farms.”

He stated that one of the farmers killed, who was identified as Kpesa, have since been buried, while the body of the other victim was taking away by the Police.

Jonah, who commended the troops of Operation Whirl Stroke for a wonderful job done in the council, appealed to the military authority to open camp close to the Benue-Nasarawa border to forestall the activities of the remaining herdsmen.

When contacted, Chairman of the Local Government, Anthony Shawon, confirmed that the incident.

Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom has alerted the Operation Whirl Stroke and other security forces in the state of armed herdsmen’s threat to unleash fresh attacks on innocent Benue people.
