THE Kwara State Police Command on Wednesday paraded a suspected cult member said to be a specialist in using La Casera drink mixed with tranquilizers to sedate his victims before dispossessing them of their belongings.

The suspect Adeniyi Sijibomi,18, was paraded alongside one John Onucho ,25, at the headquarters of the state Police Command, Ilorin for being an alleged member of Eiye confraternity who were allegedly involved in the recent killings of two persons in Ilorin.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Ajayi Okasanmi, who paraded the suspects before reporters along with three others arrested for alleged criminal conspiracy and theft of vehicles, said the suspect added a pain-killer called “tramadol” to the La Casera which he used to drug his victim before committing the crime.

He said: “On August 18, 2015, in a bid to arrest perpetrators of the last cult clashes in Ilorin, which led to the killing of two young men, the Command in addition to suspects earlier arrested and charged to court, also picked up Adeniyi Sijibomi and John Onucho last week, with the arms used in the dastardly act.”

The PPRO said two locally manufactured pistols, two live cartridges and one expended cartridges were recovered from the suspects who, according to him, “are all members of Eiye confraternity.”

He added: “In another development on August 17 this year, based on a complaint made by one Bidemi Adewole ‘F’ Sapati Ile area Ilorin, two suspects Adeniyi Sijibomi ‘M’ and Tosin David ‘M’ of the same area and members of a cult group conspired to kill the complainant using a poison laden La Casera drink. Suspects confessed committing the act with a view to dispossessing her of her sales proceeds.”

Also paraded by the police were three car snatchers- Kehinde Olumo, Alhaji Oba Suleiman and Olayinka Jimoh, who allegedly conspired to steal and buy stolen cars.

The police image maker said the suspects specialised in removing engraved windscreen and rear glasses of stolen cars and replacing them with another before selling to unsuspecting members of the public.

He said: “Through the intensified efforts of the men of the Command Intelligence and Investigation Department, members of interstate vehicle thieves, especially from Lagos, Ogun and Oyo States were arrested in Ilorin on 17/8/2015 by the Anti Car-Theft unit of the command and investigations revealed that the suspects are confirmed car snatchers.”
