The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has urged the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to support the federal administration to fix the economy rather that launching attacks at President Muhammadu Buhari.

State Publicity Secretary of APC, Mrs. Kate Offor, in Enugu yesterday criticised the PDP for rather choosing the path of an ‘armchair critic,’ instead of suggesting ways to get the country out of recession.

According to APC, with the unwarranted propaganda blitz being unleashed against the President, the PDP was exonerating itself from the country’s predicament.

The party said: “The craze to bring back unbridled corruption to Nigeria is why PDP instead of joining President Buhari in laying the solid foundation of a diversified, enduring and prosperous economy, had the guts to call on President Buhari to resign, even after failing to fix the economy during their sixteen years leadership.’’

Offor said Nigerians could not easily forget how PDP squandered the money meant to augment the $23 billion Greenfield Refineries awarded to a Chinese firm on May 13, 2010. The Greenfield Refineries were to be located in Bayelsa, Lagos and Kogi states, which could have reduced foreign exchange demand and halted billions of dollars expended on importation of petroleum products.

The APC said while beating their chest, PDP cleverly glossed over their alleged looting of the treasury.

This habit, APC alleged, emptied the national treasury and led to the collapse of the naira amidst the slump of oil prices.

The party said they were happy that the PDP was wittingly or unwittingly reminding Nigerians of the fraud embedded in a nebulous economic policy which pushed millions of Nigerians into poverty and at the same time produced the richest African.

The statement said that members of Enugu APC were of the view that President Buhari is on course in redressing the unprecedented rot left by the PDP.

Offor further maintained that the President is laying a solid foundation for economic prosperity and that in times of recession, all political parties, civil society organizations and worthy patriots throughout history rally round their president.
“We must collectively search for solutions, instead of plotting to #bring back unbridled corruption# to Nigeria,” Offor insisted.
