The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Mohammadu Sa’ad Abubakar II, yesterday advocated sufficient funding for health and education in Nigeria to check the growing medical burden of the citizens.

Speaking at the 60th anniversary of National Orthopaedic Hospital in Dala, Kano and inauguration of spinal theater named after him, he insisted that no budgetary allocation on health and education could be too high when considering the basic health need of Nigerians.

Abubakar, who is President of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), however commended Federal government spendings particularly on health wealth of the country, demanded unflinching supports of wealthy individuals in the society to improve the system.

Recalling that Nigeria has enjoyed polio free society in the last three and half years, owing to support of traditional leaders, he pledged to sustain collaboration with government on its campaign for vaccination.
