Director General of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Osita Aboloma, has vowed to rid the country of sub-standard products.

Aboloma, who stated this at a one-day National Stakeholders’ Sensitisation Forum in Kaduna yesterday, also cautioned Nigerians against patronising fake products imported into the country because they kill.

He noted that the war against fake or sub-standard products could only be won through collaboration of relevant stakeholders such as the Nigeria Customs Service, the Nigeria Police, freight forwarders and Nigerian Shippers’ Council, among others.

He said to ensure that the country overcome the menace of fake products, the agency embarked on enforcing compliance through various standards such as MANCAP, SONCAP and placement of logos on products.

This, he said, was to enable customers to identify the difference between counterfeit products and originals.
