The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has disclosed that it seized over N300 billion worth of fake and substandard products across in the country within the last few months.

It made the disclosure at the Stakeholders Workshop in Lagos yesterday to sensitise members of the public on the SON Act 2015.Director General of SON, Mr. Osita Aboloma, said the confiscated products comprised adulterated lubricants, electric cables and cylinders, among others. He said the Seventh National Assembly enacted the SON Act as a revolutionary document, which the agency needed to deploy to rid the Nigerian market of unwholesome products.

“The big hauls of seizures which the agency made recently, testifies to the fact that we mean business by harnessing to the fullest the enormous powers, which the act has granted us.
