´Soldiers arrest six, recover weapons over Taraba communal clash

Soldiers of the 93 Battalion, Takum in Taraba State have arrested six suspected masterminds of the recent communal violence in Ibi Local Council of the state .

They also recovered different arms and ammunition.

The Commanding Officer of the Battalion, Lt. Col. Chima Egemole disclosed yesterday during a briefing that “what happened on the 25th March 2016 at Ibi Local Council was characterised by ethno-religious crisis.”

“The incident started by some youths throwing stones at Muslims in the mosque during Jumat prayer, which later escalated to sporadic shooting but with the timely intervention of troops and other agencies, normalcy was restored and 24hours curfew imposed.”
