Senator Shehu Sani

Says it’s unaffordable for the poor, next government will revert many policies
The senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has opposed the sales of 2,000 housing units in the state, maintaining that the next government on board in 2019 will revert many policies already implemented by the Mallam Nasir El-Rufai government.

Speaking to pressmen at Al-Ahad hotel in Kaduna, he gave his reasons, saying that it is impossible for a civil servant earning meagre allowance of N50,000 per month to afford paying for house bidded at 30 or 50 million Naira.

Appealing to   El-rufai led administration over the decision of selling the housing units at higher rate to low income earners, the senator called the state government to rescind it rescind it on the auctioning.

Sani added: “ The sale of 2 thousand housing units in Kaduna , am very much opposed to it.  In the sense that the way others do it in their state is to give civil servants the opportunity.

“You can’t tell a civil servant who earns 30- 50 thousand naira per month to pay for a house of thirty PR 40 million, is unfair.

“Most of us at one time, our parents were civil servant , if those houses should be sold , I think we should not sell it to rich people, sell it to civil servants , and if you have problem with running cost, make it possible for civil servants to buy. Nobody in Nigeria have as fifty, hundred or two hundred million Naira , if it’s not a contractor . And nobody gets contracts today, if you are not in public office or connected to those in public office.

“So I think there should be a redress, if I condemned it, it is too strong , but I appeal to reacimed the decision for the sale of those properties.  Put me on record, because the next government in Kaduna will revert most of these policies.”
