Senate President, Reps Speaker, governors, Glo greet Muslims at Eid-el- Maulud
As Nigerians join other Muslims worldwide to celebrate Eid-el-Maulud, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, leaders and various groups have sent goodwill messages to the faithful.
Senate President Bukola Saraki yesterday urged Muslims to imbibe the injunctions of Prophet Muhammad, which teach humility, gratitude and charity toward one another.
Dr. Saraki gave the advice in a message by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, to mark the occasion.
He also urged them to ‘’lend helping hand to the needy in our midst.”
House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Turaki Hassan, urged the Muslim faithful to pray for the country.
He noted that as this year’s celebration comes just a couple of weeks before the end of the year, Muslims and all Nigerians should seize the opportunity to offer special prayers for unity.
State governors also yesterday wished the people a happy celebration, asking them to be steadfast and hopeful of a brighter future for the nation.
Also, the National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO) yesterday urged political office holders to exhibit the fear of Allah and absolute patriotism in the discharge of their duties by putting the nation’s interest above all concerns.
The group, in a message, implored the nation’s leaders to avoid conflict over the 2017 budget being presented by President Muhammadu Buhari, urging the National Assembly to jettison sentiments, play down political differences and personal concerns by giving due consideration to the document in the overall interest of the country.
Meanwhile, telecommunications giant, Globacom, has felicitated with Muslim faithful nationwide on the occasion of this year’s celebration of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.
In a goodwill message at the weekend in Lagos, Globacom admonished Muslims to celebrate the event with optimism and unflinching hope that a better tomorrow awaits the country and her people.
It urged Muslim Ummah to use the opportunity to also pray for the nation to overcome the current economic crisis in the land.
