The Ministry of Science and Technology has said it would showcase local talents of innovators and inventors in this year’s edition of Science and Technology Expo.

Addressing Journalists at the Eagle Square in Abuja, venue of the Science and Tech Expo 2017 which holds between April 3 and April 7, 2017, the Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu said the event would be the first of its kind as it will bring innovators and inventors from across the country to demonstrate the country’s capacity in modern technology.

He hinted of the possibility of using local expertise for Turn Around Maintenance (TAM) and building of new refineries, adding: “During the 2017 Expo, investors will have the opportunity to access new opportunities of investment in Science and Technology.”

Explaining why the ministry opted for an Expo instead of a Fair, Onu, a former governor of the old Abia State said Fair deals with finished products while Expo is targeted at recent findings that were desirable and have reached a level where their intellectual property is protected but have not been developed and put in the market place.

“The 2017 Science and Technology Expo will not have finished products on display and if there are any, they will be rare and will have a link with the objective of the Expo,” Onu said.
