Senate President Bukola Saraki yesterday swore in Air Marshal Isaac Alfa and Chief Benjamin Uwajumogu as senators representing Kogi East and Imo North senatorial districts.

A former Chief of Air Staff, Alfa won his election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while Uwajumogu emerged via the All Progressives Congress (APC).

With the swearing-in of the pair, APC maintains its majority with 60 senators, PDP, 44 and Labour Party (LP), one.

Four seats, including three from Rivers and one from Anambra states are yet to be occupied.

Addressing newsmen, Alfa said the occasion climaxed his 15-year struggle for the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

“My journey to this place started 15 years ago. Today is a happy day for me and the people of Kogi East. I have come to the Senate to contribute to the development of the country, “ he said.
