Sanusi, Nnaji for UNIBEN convocation

THE Emir of Kano, Alhaji Lamido Sanusi and former Minister of Power, Professor Bath Nnaji are among eminent persons expected at the 41st convocation and 45th Founders Day’s ceremonies of the University of the Benin (UNIBEN) holding November 27 at the main campus of the institution in Ogbowo, Benin City, the Edo State capital.

THE Emir of Kano, Alhaji Lamido Sanusi and former Minister of Power, Professor Bath Nnaji are among eminent persons expected at the 41st convocation and 45th Founders Day’s ceremonies of the University of the Benin (UNIBEN) holding November 27 at the main campus of the institution in Ogbowo, Benin City, the Edo State capital.

While Sanusi would be installed as the university’s ninth chancellor, Nnaji is to deliver the convocation lecture.

The Vice Chancellor, Profesor Faradya Orumwense, who addressed newsmen yesterday in Benin City, said the university had achieved so much, adding that 11,020 graduands are to be awarded various diplomas and degrees.

He also disclosed that the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase and a foremost Consultant Gynecologist, Prof. Osato Giwa-Osagie; would be conferred with honorary degrees for their service to humanity.

Orumwense said 64 First Class graduates emerged during the academic year.

“It will interest you to know that this 41st convocation ceremony will be the first convocation this administration is witnessing since my assumption of office as Vice-Chancellor. I look forward to this special epoch-making event with all zest and trust that with our hands joined together, the celebration will be a memorable one indeed,” he enthused.
