SANs hold lecture on role in administration of justice June 28

To actualise this, the body is organising its maiden yearly lecture on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Lagos.The lecture, supported by key industry players, aims at delivering valuable insights on the evolving leadership role of the senior advocates in the practice of law and the development of the society.

Chairman of BOSAN sub-committee on Continuing Legal Education, Prof. Fabian Ajogwu (SAN), who spoke with newsmen on the lecture with the theme, “The Evolving Role of Senior Advocates in the Administration of Justice and Nation-Building,” stated that the lecture is intended to foster discussions among members of the Bench and Bar on how Senior Advocates of Nigeria can maximise their position and wealth of knowledge as a tool in the administration of justice in today’s ever-changing and evolving modern society.

The lecture, according to him, would be chaired by Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, while the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, will deliver the key note address, among others.Also, a member of the sub-committee, Dr. Dapo Olanipekun (SAN), said the lecture would serve to clarify some of the misgivings about the rank and better inform the public about the crucial role the class of senior advocates play in the administration of justice and nation-building.

Besides, another member of the committee, Mr. Olumide Sofowora (SAN), said that owing to the development of new laws, it is imperative for members of the profession to keep abreast of these new laws and the administration of same.Sofowora stated that senior advocates have to set good examples by ensuring that these new laws are developed and properly applied in the society.stated that members of the Bench have been invited to properly educate senior advocates on how cases are presented before them vis-a-vis how it should be done.
