The Chairman, Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, Shehu Sani, yesterday berated the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, for making derogatory remarks on the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement yesterday, Sani, who represents Kaduna Central Senatorial District, noted that the comment attributed to El-Rufai was a clear case of ingratitude to Tinubu who has contributed immensely to the growth of democratic rule in the country.

He said that Tinubu’s contribution to the victory of the APC in the 2015 elections is unparalleled, adding that but for Tinubu, the victory over the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) would have remained a mere dream.

The statement read in part: “The memo written by Kaduna Governor which tends to belittle the contribution of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the South-West is sad and unfortunate. It is perfidious and the height of ingratitude.

“We must accept the stark truth that without Bola Tinubu and the principled position of the South-West, dislodging Goodluck Jonathan and the then ruling PDP could have still remain a pipe dream, a hollow hope or a political mirage. El-Rufai defecates on a broom that is supposed to clean the littered floor of the nation.

“President Buhari is the heart of APC and Asiwaju is the lungs. Tinubu’s contribution to the success of the party is unequalled. El-Rufai smiles with Tinubu on broad daylight and stings him at night. He hugs Tinubu with a chest of hooks and shakes him with toxic palms.

“El-Rufai should publicly apologise to Tinubu and the South-West .To insult a man publicly and apologise to him privately is to eat your cake and have it. Those heavily drinking from the liquor of power should know that they will later or lately have to drive back home.”

Thank you senator for acknowledging Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s role in Nigeria’s developing and flourishing democracy…BAT doesn’t seek praise from anyone. He works and does his things quietly, right from when he was fighting military dictatorship to when he was the only “surviving” AD governor. The rest is history…..

Posterity would judge the contributions of every one to the formation of a new and prosperous Nigeria

Well said. Never expected this from Senator Sanni, as he always seems to work against the APC but he has shown himself to possess principles. El Rufai probably never meant to denigrate or insult Tinubu or the South West but the man (El-Rufai) just does not know how to talk. He talks before he thinks then tries to retract what he said.

El rufai knows what he is doing, he wants the presidency and his thinking is that he must be seen as a northern champion to get it!!! He is a ruthless schemer for power and must never be underestimated!!!!

He is a fool. If he wants the Presidency there are better ways of going about it, not by alienating those who you will want to vote for you. Tinubu is not only influential in the politics of the South West but is well respected in the North Central (Kwara, Kogi, Benue, Plateau and Adamawa). When it comes to Presidential elections, the South West is the last zone you want to mess with.

…whosoever throws away the Umbrella he earlier beg for will surely face his Karma when the Rain comes again, Big Thank you Senator Sanni! Tinubu remains Asiwaju, this was ordained by Nature long time before winning the APC National Elections, the likes of Rufai should be inform that Asiwaju means LEADER in all aspect.

The SW and BAT do not relish any praise from a diminutive entity. Let any rat rant anyhow, that does not remove their roles in stabilizing the Nigerian polity
