Sallah: Ram sellers lament low patronage in Anambra

The popular cattle market in Amansea, Anambra State is experiencing low patronage ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, especially by ram buyers.

As at yesterday when The Guardian visited the market, the ram stalls, which usually received customers during this festive period last year, saw fewer people, even though many people were seen in the market.

It was the same situation at the goat market (Ogba ewu) in Awka, where rams are sold, especially during the festive period.

Chairman of Amansea Cattle Market Association, Alhaji Bello Maigari, said he observed that the low patronage could have been as a result of the economic hardship Nigerians are facing now, just as he advised faithful to manage with whatever they can afford for the celebration at this moment.

He cautioned that those who cannot afford to buy rams this festive period should not insist on slaughtering ram, hoping the future would be better.
