Sacked Deltan workers end ‘fast’, seek reinstatement
THE over 700 sacked civil servants in Delta State have called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to reinstate them.
The disengaged workers made the call Wednesday in Asaba during a peaceful protest climaxing their three-day hunger strike.
Armed with placards which read: “We call on Governor Okowa to hearken to the voice of God” and “Okowa, repent and believe in the Goodnews,” they urged the governor to do the needful.
Chairman of the state’s branch of Congress of Newly Employed Civil Servants (CNECS), Comrade Obus Regha, said the protesters broke their ‘fast’ which began on Monday at the Government House to make Okowa have a rethink.
However, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Charles Aniagwu, said their prayers would aid his principal’s agenda.
