Rotary club to provide toilets, borehole for public schools, empower women

As part of efforts aimed at contributing its quota to the development of education in the country, the newly installed president of Rotary Club of Lagos Central, Rotn. Kikelomo Bello, has disclosed that her administration would build four toilets with borehole in a public school.

Speaking during her investiture as the 37th president, she added that the club would purchase computer systems with internet facilities for four public schools; carry out empowerment and vocational training of women and girls; supply school uniforms, books and educational materials to selected public schools; give micro-credit scheme to widows within Lagos Island and distribute teaching and learning materials to schools, which would be at an estimated cost of N20 million.

In his speech, the guest speaker, Director, Environment and Advocacy, Lagos State Ministry of the Environment, Dr. Afolabi Abiodun, urged Nigerians to plant trees in order to reduce the effects of global warming.

Speaking on the topic: ‘Making the nation green, a sustainable approach towards Sustainable Development Goals’, Abiodun also cautioned against disposing of refuse in drainage.
