The Amanyanabo of Abonnema, HRM King Disreal Gbobo Bob-Manuel II, his council of chiefs, prominent sons and daughters of Abonnema have set up Nyemoni Solidarity Group as part of efforts to cushion the effect of coronavirus lockdown on the poor and vulnerable people in society.

Speaking at the launch of the group, its Chairman, Professor Nimi Dinkpa Briggs said, “The committee is empowered to raise cash donations, relief materials and protective materials such as face masks and hand sanitisers.”

Prof Briggs noted that the group’s interactive website www.abonnema solidarity.com would provide information on COVID-19 in English and in local Kalabiri languages on the preventive steps to take in order to avoid contracting the disease.

While answering questions he called on all sons and daughters in the diaspora and at home to generously donate towards the success of the group and the Abonnema.

He said, “I am using the opportunity to call on all sons and daughters of Abonnema, as well as men and women of goodwill to send their contributions either in cash or materials to the appropriate channels as directed in the website.”
