The embattled Minority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Benibo Anabraba, has alleged plot by security officials to arrest him.

He claimed that the operatives invaded his office within the Assembly Complex in Port Harcourt yesterday with the intention to whisk him away.

The lawmaker wondered why a team of plain-clothes armed security men would suddenly lay siege to his office without any form of notice.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) legislator and representative of Akuku-Toru Constituency II condemned what he described as a “sting operation by unknown security operatives to unlawfully arrest me over trumped-up charges.”

Anabraba emerged a principal officer in a spectacular way a couple of weeks ago when the majority Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members of the legislature nominated and elected him against his party’s anointed candidate.

He was subsequently expelled by the APC. A decision he had challenged in court. His words: “I was called by my aides and colleagues that some unknown faces have clustered my office. And, on further investigation, it was discovered that they were security agents and said they were looking for me.”
