Restructuring should not overshadow challenges of development, says Mikko
A former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Barida Bernard Mikko, has lamented that ongoing calls for restructuring of the country is going the way of tenure elongation, which rubbished a much expected constitutional amendment in the fifth National Assembly.
Speaking to The Guardian on phone, Mikko, who represented Khana/Gokana federal constituency in the House of Representatives, said; “it appears the political elites, who had the opportunity yesterday, but failed to take pragmatic steps to develop our country have found convenient ways of diverting attention from their failures.”
He noted that the restructuring debate seems to be an afterthought by the proponents, who he said “virulently believes that restructuring is the only panacea for peace and development in our country.”
