Residents of Mile 2, Abule-Ado, old Ojo Road, Abule-Osun, Satellite Town and parts of FESTAC Town in Lagos State, are calling on the government to rescue them from killer gangs, who operate freely in these areas.

Residents of Mile 2, Abule-Ado, old Ojo Road, Abule-Osun, Satellite Town and parts of FESTAC Town in Lagos State, are calling on the government to rescue them from killer gangs, who operate freely in these areas.

According to them, these gangs kill, rape and extort residents and tanker drivers. They also invade private property to confiscate and forcibly eject tenants.

Last Tuesday’s attack got the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, angry. He deployed a tactical team drawn from major attack units of the Command to act.

Police sources said the police mobilised operatives to the scene and engaged the hoodlums.

The Guardian gathered that 40 of the thugs were arrested. One of the residents, who has been living in Oguntade community for about 30 years, expressed joy at the success recorded by the police.

He said their kingpin could not be picked because he got wind of it and fled.

Residents, who are still living in fear of reprisals from the fleeing gang members, urged the Police to station a permanent formation in the area.
