The Association of Resident Doctors, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (ARD UNTH) has withdrawn petitions it wrote last year to the anti-graft agencies against the then Deputy Director of Finance (DDF), UNTH, Ituku/Ozalla, Enugu State, Mr. Onuchukwu Chukwudi, calling for his sack and investigation.

He is at present the Director of Finance (DF).

The Supreme Congress of the ARD at its ordinary general meeting on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Ituku/Ozalla, amid other issues, reviewed decisions and actions with respect to the protest embarked upon last December against the Chief Medical Director (CMD) and management of UNTH Ituku/Ozalla.

The congress resolved as follows:
• That the information given to Congress of ARD UNTH by its past executive which informed the actions on the above subject matter was baseless and vindictive against the management.

• That the current executive council of ARD UNTH led by Dr. Akponye Solomon should address a press conference and withdraw the above baseless accusations against the management released to the public and offer an open apology to the CMD, management, staff and board of UNTH Ituku/ Ozalla.

• That the executive council should urgently withdraw the petitions in various anti-graft agencies, other ministries, departments and agencies of the Federal Government, and request them to expunge any such petitions on the subject matter written on behalf of the congress by anybody from their archives.

• Congress unanimously agreed to always verify any information from their leaders before taking any decisive action on any subject matter to avoid any such embarrassments in the future.

Signed by Dr. Akponye Solomon (president) and Dr. OkamIzuchukwu (general secretary), they added: “Consequent upon the above, the President of ARD, UNTH, Ituku/Ozalla on behalf of the Executive Council and Congress, hereby humbly tender an unreserved apology to the CMD, Dr. Amah C. C; the DF, Mr. Onuchukwu Chukwudi and other members of management, staff and board for the misguided actions of the congress on the above subject matter.”
