Postmaster general alleges plan to sabotage NIPOST

The PostMaster General (PMG) and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), Asiwaju Bisiyi Adegbuyi, has raised the alarm over alleged plans by some persons to sabotage efforts to improve service delivery by the postal institution.

Adegbuyi, who disclosed this to The Guardian yesterday after inspecting some of the facilities of the service, however, expressed satisfaction that the plans of sabotage and financial leakages had been identified and handled, promising Nigerians efficient services.

According to him: “Some people are sabotaging NIPOST’s efforts. We are working hard not to allow them succeed. We have to move ahead. There should be no wall between me the PMG and workers. You have my e-mail. Use it. With plans to install technology, we are going to monitor what everybody does from my table. That is what we are going to do under my leadership.”

He also told the workers of the service in Owerri under Imo territory that enhanced rent allowances for members of staff from level 01 to 07, had been paid. He said this was to boost their morale. The PMG was accompanied by the Area Postal Manager of Imo Territory, Obiora Pantalion Uchechukwu and other officials.

Speaking on the demolition of some parts of the service’s office at Nworieubi in Mbaitoli local council by the state government during the dualisation of the road, the Adegbuyi appealed to Governor Rochas Okorocha to rebuild the structure.

He said NIPOST would resume talks with the state government on this issue.He expressed regret that a building belonging to the service at Industrial Layout, Onitsha road had been abandoned.
