Posterity Media launches online newspaper

A new online newspaper, posteritymediang.com, has been launched in Lagos. Founded by Mr. O’Femi Kolawole, an award-winning journalist, the online newspaper, according to the Publisher/CEO, is a platform created to further contribute to the greatness of Nigeria and engage the people.

“Our website, posteritymediang.com, will deliver credible news on politics and business, including insights and analysis about important issues Nigerians care about.

“We will be strong on human-interest stories as well as investigative reports. As we strive to inform, educate, and entertain our readers, we will also set agenda for the nation,” Kolawole said.

He explained that the site is a platform for intellectuals in business, civil society, government and the academia but most importantly, young Nigerians whose voice the newspaper aims to activate like never before.Kolawole said: “Our pledge to Nigerians is to be independent and practice ‘journalism in the public interest’ at all times without fear or favour.”

Kolawole, who began his career as an intern at THEWEEK magazine in 2001, also reported for BrandFaces Marketing Journal. He is the author of Maximising Internship Potentials, and The Gatekeepers, a book on Nigeria’s newspaper editors.

Between 2006 and 2008, he worked at Journalists Against AIDS (JAAIDS) Nigeria, a multi-award-winning media NGO, as Programme Associate, Research and Communication.

In the position, Kolawole produced stories for Access Alert newsletter and was responsible for writing content-analysis reports on HIV/AIDS stories published in the Nigerian media as part of the organisation’s monthly media monitoring service. He was also in charge of organizing roundtables where HIV/AIDS activists, government officials and civil society groups working on HIV/AIDS and Reproductive Health, share their field experiences with journalists.

He is the convener of Posterity Media Business Forum (PMBF), a platform that brings together leaders and professionals from the public and private sectors, the academia, civil society and the media to discuss and proffer creative ideas towards solving Nigeria’s development and socio-economic challenges, and has also facilitated trainings within and outside Nigeria.
