Policemen, patrol vans deployed in Lagos for Sallah

To ensure a crime-free Sallah celebration, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, Fatai Owoseni, yesterday deployed over 200 policemen and 100 patrol vans in a show of force.

Led by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, DCP Titilayo Kayode, and accompanied by the Chief Superintendent of Police, Department of Operations (Baker), CSP Waheed Ayilara, the exercise kicked off from the command headquarters in Ikeja.

The event had police operatives and their patrol vehicles drawn from virtually all area commands and police divisions across the state.Also in the entourage were soldiers of the Nigeria Army, operating under the aegis of the Operation Mesa (OP MESA), to depict an inter-agency cooperation between the policemen and its sister agencies.

The convoy took off from Ikeja and went to Ipaja and Abule Egba, before ending at the Agege Abattoir, to check the situation report of the market after the clash between the Hausas and Fulanis, which claimed lives.

Meanwhile, other patrol vans were broken into syndicates under a team leader and deployed to other parts of the state, unanimously signaling the Command’s readiness to counter any threat to security.

On the show of force, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, said, “In a bid to ensure safety and security of lives and property within Lagos State, the Command has put up various operational strategies to realise this. Part of this is the “operation show of force.”
