Police to arraign three for stripping woman naked, posting video online in Anambra

The Anambra State police command is currently investigating a case of conspiracy, blackmail, deprivation of liberty and assault occasioning harm involving three suspects, believed to have lured their unsuspecting victim, one Ogochukwu of Osile village, Enugwu-ukwu in Njikoka local government area of the state, before subjecting her to severe beating after stripping her naked.

The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Ladodo, who disclosed this at a press conference yesterday pointed out that the incident took place on March 19, this year. According to him, the victim reported to the police about the incident in which one Ifeanyi Azotani, a Facebook friend, invited her to his house at Ezimezi village in Amawbia, Awka South local government area of the state.

The police boss stated that the purported wife of the male Facebook friend, named Azotani Toochukwu, suddenly showed up in the house with her friend, one Ogochukwu Nwankwo, and locked the victim up inside the bathroom for four hours and left.He stated further that the two women came back with big canes and opened the bathroom, stripping the victim naked and flogging her to the admiration of the male accomplice, Mr. Azotani, who is the principal suspect that took out time to video the entire incident.

The victim’s nude picture, the police said, was posted online when the victim refused threats of the male accomplice to cough out N60,000. The video has since gone viral on the social media.

Also, the police Special Anti-cult Unit has arrested a total of 113 suspected cultists. Of this number, 45 persons have been charged to court while 35 were screened out, with 33 still under investigation. He said the arrests are part of the command’s ongoing raids of black spots in order to stem the tide of cultism in the state.

Ladodo, who noted that the arrests were made between March 11 and 25, resulted in the recovery of exhibits, including one browning pistol, seven live ammunition, one locally-made single barrel pistol, axe, dagger, machetes and some quantities of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

Also, police operatives attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) have arrested a robbery suspect, Onyedika, aka ‘Nwaba’ who was fatally wounded during a fierce gun-battle with a robbery syndicate who opened fire on the police team.The victim was rushed to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, for treatment where he was certified dead on arrival.
