The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, has constituted a committee to screen all policemen with higher qualifications for elevation to inspectors and assistant superintendent of police.

A statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Emmanuel Ojukwu, in Abuja on Thursday said that interviews for policemen at the state commands would hold from July 1 to July 6.

The statement said that similar exercises for personnel at the Zonal Commands would take place from July 16 to July 22.

“The exercise is part of the welfare package aimed at boosting the morale of the personnel,’’ it said.

The statement said the result of the interviews must reach the Force Headquarters on or before July 28.

It stressed that the exercises must be fair and transparent.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that IG Solomon Arase said on June 3 that no fewer than 1,000 policemen had submitted their new qualifications for elevation.

Kudos to Arase, these are the type of people we want as leaders. I know many will not be happy but this is the right thing to do. In addition, evolve a policy that will prevent them from bribe taking or setting traps for people in order to get them and subsequently collect bribe.
