Police nab suspected supplier of arms, rescue children from trafficker

A suspect believed to be the major supplier of arms and ammunitions to hoodlums terrorising Taraba state and some parts of the country have again been nabbed by the state police command

A suspect believed to be the major supplier of arms and ammunitions to hoodlums terrorising Taraba state and some parts of the country have again been nabbed by the state police command. This is coming barely few months after the notorious kidnappers kingpin; Hamisu Bala Wadume was arrested by the police.

The suspect, Dayyabu Usman, was arrested with two AK 47 riffles. Parading the suspect alongside others, PPRO David Misal, said investigation carried out by the command showed that the suspect has been in the business for over 10 years and has been supplying firearms to hoodlums especially kidnappers, armed bandits among others within the state and other states. A suspected accomplice who name was also given as Ibrahim Bako was also arrested with two 9mm live ammunition.

The command went ahead to update journalists on a suspected child trafficker Mary Yakubu who was last week arrested in custody of no fewer than 23 children, said additional ten children have again been rescued by the command, six females and four males whom according to him, were rescued in Mararaba Donga town, Donga LGA.

The said children have been handed over to the state ministry of women affairs and child development.

Also paraded by the command, were 12 suspected militia group members. Items recovered from them include a hand grenade and 19 rounds of 7.62M live ammunition.
