Police Commission promotes 250 senior officers

The Police Service Commission (PSC) yesterday said it has approved the promotion of 250 senior police officers.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) yesterday said it has approved the promotion of 250 senior police officers.

A statement signed by the spokesman of the commission, Ikechukwu Ani in Abuja, yesterday said the commission approved the promotion of the senior officers at the 24th plenary meeting held in Abuja from the December 5-7, which was presided by its chairman Mike Okiro.

Ani said the commission approved the promotion of two commissioners of police to Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), six acting Commissioners of Police, 15 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to CPs, 54 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) one acting DCP to DCP and 165 CSPs to ACPs.

He said the names of those promoted have been forwarded to the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris for implementation through the permanent secretary of the commission.

The statement reads: “The Commission approved the promotion of CP Etop John James and CP Rasheed Olatunde Akintunde to the next rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG.

“It also confirmed the acting appointments of CP Donald Awunah, former Force Public Relations Officer and former CP Akwa Ibom State Command, now at the Police Academy Wudil, Kano; CP Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa, Cross Rivers State Command; CP Garba Umar, , Anambra State Command; CP Bello Ahmed; CP Imohimi Edgal, Lagos State Command and CP Ali Janga, Kogi State Command.
