Police arrest 14 over sale of naira notes

Kwara State Police Command, yesterday, arrested 14 persons for allegedly selling naira notes, contrary to Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) Act Sections 20 and 21, which make trading of currency a punishable offence. Kwara State Police Command, yesterday, arrested 14 persons for allegedly selling naira notes, contrary to Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) Act Sections 20 and 21, which make trading of currency a punishable offence.
Parading the suspects, the state’s Police Command spokesman, Deputy Superintendent Ajayi Okasanmi said the action stemmed from a directive from Police headquarters.
Okasanmi said unspecified number of new and old currencies of various denominations was recovered from those arrested.
