Police arraigns APC chieftain in Rivers for murder

The police in Rivers State yesterday arraigned a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ojukaye Flag Amachree, before the state’s Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt for alleged murder.

The police in Rivers State yesterday arraigned a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ojukaye Flag Amachree, before the state’s Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt for alleged murder.

Amachree, a two-term Chairman of Asari Toru Local Council area, during former Governor Chibuike Amaechi’s administration, was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Israel Agbesor, over the murder of Smart Soberekon.

The state Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo, in suit number, PMC/750c/2016, alleged that Amachree, with others now at large, allegedly committed the offence on the 11th day of April, 2016 at Buguma, in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District.

The police said the offence is punishable under section 516 (a) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, vol. II, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.

The second charge read, “That you, Ojukaye Flag Amachree ‘m’ with others now at large at the above-mentioned date, place and in the aforementioned Magistrate District, did shoot and killed one Smart Soberekon ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. II, Laws of Rivers State of Nigerian 1999″ he said.
