Police arraign mechanic for breaking trust

A 28-year old mechanic, Abdulrazak Tajudeen, on Thursday appeared in a Kado Grade 1 Area Court for alleged breach of trust and cheating.

Tajudeen, who resides at Chikuku, Gwagwalada, Abuja, pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of breach of trust and cheating.

The Prosecutor, Zeerah Douglas, told the court that Nuhu Isiaka of Dei-Dei village, reported the matter at Utako Police Station on March 7.

Douglas said the complainant took his Golf 3 vehicle to the defendant’s workshop at Jabi Motor Park, Utako for repair.

She said that Tajudeen charged him N25,000 and paid cash with a promise to repair the vehicle immediately.

She said the defendant criminally refused to repair the said vehicle and converted the money for his personal use.

“The defendant was nowhere to be found until his arrest by the police,’’ Douglas added.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.

The Judge, Malam Abubakar Sadiq, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N20,000 with a surety in like sum.

Sadiq said the surety could be anyone within the court’s jurisdiction, and adjourned the matter till May 2 for further hearing. (NAN)
