FRESH challenges have greeted the recently concluded Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) congress in Anambra State, which produced Ken Emeakayi as the state chairman with an overwhelming victory, as the Peter Obi camp has distanced itself from the exercise.

The immediate past governor of the state, Peter Obi, and the spokesman and former commissioner for information and culture, Joe-Martins Uzodike, told journalists in Awka over the weekend that they were not part of the whole drama.

This comes as another faction, led by Comrade Tony Nwoye, last week inaugurated a parallel state, council and ward executive committees after resolving to remedy past electoral defeats to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Uzodike told journalists at the special thanksgiving service at St Luke’s Anglican Church, Uke, for Ubaka Emmanuel Onwuanibe for his successful four-year tenure as the pioneer Director-General of Ebonyi State Broadcasting Service: “We are never part of what is going on right now. This is because we do not associate with crisis-torn body.”

He said the only remedy is for all the feuding groups to come to a round table, seek peace, reconcile and spell out their terms of relationship in further pursuit of general peace.

Uzodike, who was the Director General of the APGA Campaign Organisation that produced the incumbent Governor Willie Obiano, has since dumped APGA for the PDP alongside Obi.

He acknowledged that the Emeakayi-led executive committee made him the party’s state secretary but would not say why he was yet to decline the position and the group until now.

Meanwhile, Onwuanibe thanked the former governor of Ebonyi State, Martins Elechi, indigenes of the state and all his professional colleagues for supporting him and making his task less cumbersome. He further urged the journalism leadership in the country to correct the ills afflicting the profession for it to grow.
