A federal lawmaker representing Edo Central Senatorial District, Clifford Ordia has warned against manipulation of next week’s governorship polls.

The senator spoke to journalists in Abuja yesterday. He said: “In my senatorial district, the APC has no chance. We have put everything in place to checkmate plans by the party to rig. We will resist any attempt to rig the election. We know that the APC is desperate and it is doing everything to frustrate voters, but it would not work.”

According to Ordia: “The maladministration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last eight years has given the Edo people no choice than the more credible candidate from the PDP.”

The senator, who is the Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Works, added that the PDP was fully prepared to win the election and would not be intimidated by any distraction.

“The APC knew they were going to lose and they decided to shift the election. Even if they shift it by one year, the PDP would still win. Edo is a PDP state and we will prove it during the election,” he said.

He cautioned the security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to make themselves willing tools in the hands of desperate politicians.

The senator explained that he made the call against the backdrop of some past cases where the security agencies reportedly connived with the INEC officials to deny Nigerians their voting rights.
