PDP to sanction erring members
Warns Sheriff To Stop Parading Himself As Chairman
Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, has hinted of the possibility of the party sanctioning some members who have constituted themselves as clog in its wheel of progress.
He warned the former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff to stop parading himself as national chairman of PDP.
He disclosed that PDP would soon come out with some decisions to ensure that the party is strengthened politically, while issues that may want to derail PDP from achieving its fundamental objectives and return to power in 2019, are trashed out with dispatch.
Makarfi said: “But, you see, I am equally surprised that my brother (Sherriff) continues to think that he is still the national chairman. He has forgotten, and Nigerians should not forget if he has forgotten, that two Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Courts had in the first place, given judgment that the constitutional amendment, the basis for which Modu Sherrif was appointed did not follow due process, therefore declared it null and void.”
“And the other court, taking cognizance of the decision of the other court declared the appointment of Modu Sherriff, abinitio null and void, therefore removed him as national chairman of PDP. These are subsisting judgment, which Modu Sherrif did not appeal.”
