PDP sets criteria for choosing its presidential candidate
Alleges Plot To Burn Edo INEC Office
People Democratic Party (PDP) has listed conditions that presidential aspirants on the party’s platform must fulfill for the 2019 general election.
Such aspirants, the party declared, must have made appreciable contributions to the party and not those who are only interested in seeking positions.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Saturday, Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), Senator Walid Jibrin, said prospective presidential aspirants would be rated strictly on performance.
“We want people who are devoted to the principles and ideals of the PDP and who are ready to serve the masses, rather than those pursuing individual ambitions. Where you have self seeking individuals fighting to get the party’s ticket, it would not serve the interest of the PDP, because even the electorate would be careful before voting for candidates in elections.”
“We have received reports that our friends that left the PDP are willing to come back, after we have treated our ailments. We will welcome them and others willing to join the PDP for the progress of Nigeria,” the BoT chair added.
Also yesterday, the party alerted that the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC’) might be set ablaze by persons not comfortable with the ongoing inspection of electoral materials used for the last governorship election in the state.
Spokesman of the PDP caretaker committer, Dayo Adeyeye, in a statement alleged, “APC members had threatened to burn the INEC office in order to prevent the commission from providing credible evidence at the Tribunal.”

If Baba Egba should say that he as a PDP member was among the cabal that put their opposition party in power, well I think the Party has issues with loyalty and need to flush its timber and calibre member and restructure the parties priority of striving to be a National party with a presidential certainty candidate of unity or it will still be played for regional interest.
We will review and take appropriate action.
