Oyo records one coronavirus related death, 30 new cases

The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force yesterday disclosed that the state recorded one death as the total number of confirmed cases in the state rose to 605. Also, the confirmation tests for 30 suspected cases reportedly came back positive just as the total number of COVID-19-related death in the state is now eight.

The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force yesterday disclosed that the state recorded one death as the total number of confirmed cases in the state rose to 605. Also, the confirmation tests for 30 suspected cases reportedly came back positive just as the total number of COVID-19-related death in the state is now eight.

Governor Seyi Makinde, who revealed this via his verified twitter handle, urged the residents of the state to adhere to the physical distancing order in view of the community spread of the virus in the state.

He said: “If you have any strange fevers, sudden loss of taste/smell or other known COVID-19 symptoms, please visit the nearest community-based testing centre to get tested.

“The COVID-19 confirmation tests for 30 suspected cases came back positive. The cases are from Ibadan South-West (eight), Ido (four), Ibadan North West (four), Ibadan South-East (three), Ibadan North-East (two), Ibadan North (two), Ona Ara (two), Saki West (two), Oluyole (one), Lagelu (one) and Itesiwaju (one) local councils.

“So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State as of today is 605.

“Sadly, we had one COVID-19-related death. So, the total number of deaths in Oyo State is eight.”
