DPR Shuts Stations For Hoarding, Diversion In Borno, Adamawa
THE Department of Petroleum Resource (DPR) has sealed over 18 filling stations in Gombe, Bauchi, Borno and Adamawa States, over ‘sharp practices in dispensing fuel, selling above the pump price, hoarding and diverting the product.’

The DPR in Borno State sealed five fuel stations after a joint team of the department, Pipelines Products Marketing Company (PPMC) and State Security Services conducted unscheduled monitoring exercise of the distribution and sale of petroleum products in Maiduguri metropolis.

Retail Outlets and Monitoring Officer of the DPR, in Gombe, Mr. Banard Amos, said that the stations, which are owned by both independent marketers and Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), were involved in diverting over 800,000 litres of fuel.

Some of the affected stations include the NNPC Retail station at FCE roundabout, off Dukku road in Gombe and SID Oil and Gas Nigeria LTD in Azare of Bauchi State, which was shut for hoarding over 31,000 litres of PMS and selling the product at 135 per litre. Others include Ummodah Investment Nigeria LTD along Yola road in Kumo, Akko Local Council Area in Gombe, where fuel sold at N140 per litre; Samafmar Nigeria Ltd, which also sold a litre for N140; Shakkato Integrated Service Nigeria Ltd in Bojude of Kwami Local Council Area and Al-Fatmiya Oil Nigeria Ltd along Dadin-kowa Road.

In Bauchi, the DPR said the defaulting stations include Danlami Petroleum Transport and Company along Maiduguri Road, Sumsons Enterprises LTD at KM 6 Kano- Kari road Misau Local Council Area and Al-ihsan Transport Nigeria Ltd in Yana Shira Local Council Area.

The Zonal head of DPR, in Maiduguri, Idris Zoaka, yesterday, said that managers of the shut stations deliberately refused to sell fuel at official pump price of N87 a litre. He said the sealed filling stations, which are located on Kano and Baga roads in Maiduguri, include Fona Dori, Lakebato Petroleum Limited and M.M.Gana.
