Over 18,000 youths benefit from foundation’s ICT programme

The Murtala Muhammed Foundation (MMF) equipped over 18,000 students in over forty government schools, with Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills on the use of Microsoft E-learning Tools.

This was disclosed the Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Mrs. Aisha Muhammed-Oyebode, in a press statement issued to media men in Kano, during a donation ceremony of computers and accessories at Kofar Kudu Primary and Girls Secondary School, Kano Emir’s Palace. The Foundation gave the donation in partnership with ACE Charity, stressing that the gesture would be extended to other schools.

The Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II, would also commission the ACE Centre Library as part of the Guaranty Trust Bank newly remodeled and renovated school complex. According to the release, the programme has been designed in partnership with Computer Aid International, United Kingdom and Microsoft Nigeria.

“Additional to the donation, MMF will be providing continuous training to the school’s computer studies teachers in basic computer maintenance, operations and on how to integrate digital literacy in the school’s curriculum, ” the release highlighted.

According to the Chief Executive Officer the initiative was also designed as a holistic approach to help Nigerian students obtain extensive, qualitative and relevant education in the ICT while mainstreaming life skills by providing schools with dedicated well-equipped computer laboratories as well as implementing courses designed to teach technology skills.
