Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Governor State of Osun.

Osun state Governor Rauf Aregbesola, Friday, condemned the protest by leaders and members of opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, over the outcome of the Osun gubernatorial election.

Nigeria’s Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara, and the national chairman of PDP, Uche Secondus led a protest to the headquarter of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja.

The party leaders demanded the cancellation of the just concluded Osun State governorship election.

Aregbesola, who visited the presidential villa to introduce the Osun governor elect Gboyega Oyetola to President Muhammadu Buhari, told journalists that the opposition party’s protest is nothing but a charade and act of irresponsibility.

“It is a charade and an act of gross irresponsibility. After an election, the only option left for any responsible citizen is to go to the tribunal,” Aregbesola said.

“If you are already in court and you are still doing a street protest, it is either you are not mentally stable or you need psychiatric attention,” he added.

Aregbesola further stated that he has no idea what the protest is meant to do and the party should seek tribunal instead of protesting.
