Osinbajo meets governors, ministers over foodstuff’s prices
Those at the meeting were four state governors of Ebonyi, Dave Umahi; Kano, Abdullahi Ganduje; Kebbi, Abubakar Bagudu and Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa.
Others were the ministers of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Chief Audu Ogbe, Finance, Kemi Adeosun and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele.
Speaking to State House Correspondents after the meeting, Bagudu said government was worried and wanted to find a quick way out of the food price crisis.
He said the meeting with the acting president reviewed the wheat and rice programmes and what could be done to increase production.
Bagudu said the acting president assured the meeting that the Federal Government would continue to support the drive towards self-sufficiency in food security.
The Kebbi State governor said the government would of necessity support the farmers, the millers and other stakeholders involved in the value chain.
Bagudu noted that at least, 32 states have witnessed improved production of wheat. “Last season, we had about five states, but, today we are hearing reports from about 11 states and the increase in output per state is quite significant as well.”
