Osinbajo lauds Ahmadiyah for promoting peace, preaches religious harmony

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has lauded members of the Ahmadiyah Muslim Jama’at for their consistency in promoting peace, unity and love across the world.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has lauded members of the Ahmadiyah Muslim Jama’at for their consistency in promoting peace, unity and love across the world.

Osinbajo who spoke in Ilaro, Ogun State at the 66th Jalsa Salana (convention) of the sect, also appealed to Nigerians not to encourage religious crises in the country.He said the sect had contributed a lot to stabilising the country for growth and development.

Osinbajo disclosed that the Muslim group with its popular creed “love for all, hatred for none” is famous for preaching peace and unity, brotherhood to all Nigerians.

While cautioning against anything that would divide Nigeria, he stressed that all over the world, people had always identified with promoters of peace.“No meaningful development or progress can be achieved in an atmosphere of chaos and violence,” he said.

Osinbajo explained that “though some people may want to create division among tribes and religion, but the Almighty God sees us as one, even as those people will continue to fail.“Our country will no doubt be greater with people like Ahmadiya, because you have not only learnt how to live with other people in peace and unity, but also teach others same.”

The vice president felicitated with the Muslim group on the occasion of its annual spiritual exercise, and urged all Nigerians to continue to embrace peace, and shun anything that could draw back the progress and development of the country.

According to him, peace is one of the most important things in life, noting that history of countries all over the world showed that those who prevail as true leaders, are those men and women who preach peace amongst all men.He said: “Our country is one where many times people want to create division. They want to create division between Muslims and Christians, between tribes and between men. But God sees us as one.”

While urging them to continue their message of unity and peace, he said it was necessary to make the country greater.The theme of the annual conference was “Self-purification and submission to Allah, as prerequisites for reformation of mankind.”

National President of the Ahmadiya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, Dr. Mash’hud Adenrele Fashola, lauded President Muhammadu Buhari and Osinbajo for their commitment to accountability and transparency. Fashola said Nigerians really appreciate the “uncommon leadership” and described Osinbajo as “paragon of humility and symbol of excellence in good governance.”
