Osinbajo, Gowon, others for SU’s 25th anniversary
FORMER Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd), Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, and the immediate past Secretary to the Government Federation, SGF, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, are billed to grace the 25th anniversary of Scripture Union (SU) in Abuja tomorrow.
Other notable dignitaries expected to attend the occasion are the current Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engineer Babachir David Lawal, National Chairman of Scripture Union Nigeria, Engineer Ekpo Etim Ekpo, Executive Secretary, National Commission for Colleges of Education, Prof Monday Joshua and a host of others.
Disclosing this to journalists yesterday, Area Chairman of SU, Abuja chapter, Mr. Emeka Orji, said SU Nigeria, Abuja Area was part of the Global Christian Movement that began in Islington, London on June 2, 1867 by Josiah Spiers.
Orji said “The movement developed from Children’s Special Service Mission (CSSM) to ‘Scripture Union’ that partners with churches across the world,” adding that S.U was currently operating in over 120 countries.
Orji added that SU Nigeria was presently functioning in thirty-seven areas located in ten regions, which include: Abuja, Akure, Benin, Enugu, Lagos, Okigwe, Onitsha, Oshogbo, Port Harcourt and Uyo.
