Incumbent governor Samuel Ortom has been declared the winner of the People’s Democratic Party primary in Benue State.

Ortom polled 2210 votes to emerge winner ahead of three other aspirants. The chairman of the Benue State primary election, Mrs Zainab Maina announced the result on Monday afternoon in Makurdi.

Surveyor John Tondo came a distant second with 475 votes while Engr. Felix Atume was third with 44 votes. Prof. Paul Orhii polled 10 votes.

Ortom, defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP in July 2018 after protesting youths stopped him from traveling to Abuja to attend an APC reconciliation meeting.
