Delta Speaker promises robust relationship with executive
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom yesterday enjoined the people of the state to give thanks to God for taking them out of the year 2017 to 2018 with high hope that the year would be better.

Ortom said this while felicitating with the people of the state as they enter into the new year, saying Benue State recorded numerous milestones in 2017 in spite of the recession, which brought about severe economic challenges across states of the federation.

His words: “Let me reassure you that we are almost at the end of the tunnel and as we enter the new year, the wage bill menace will be surmounted and our dear workers will begin to receive their salaries as and when due.

“I remain hopeful and resolute that this difficult and challenging economic scenario will come to pass. Indeed, it is almost over. We are on the threshold of a new economic boom.

“All that I request from you is continued support of our economic policies, as we march onto greatness. Benue State is rising and will surely get to its desired development destination.”

Also, Political Aide on Special Duties (Media) to Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success, yesterday said Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has performed well in the year 2017 but will do more this year.

Ossai disclosed this during an interview at the end of year thanksgiving organised by Okowa at Government House Chapel, Asaba.

“The year 2017 is worth celebrating looking at the goodness of God and the achievements of the state government.

However, Okowa has called on the people of the state to remain united in the development of the state irrespective of ethnic or party differences.

In a New Year message in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu, he felicitated with the people of the state, as they step into the New Year and expressed gratitude to God for the grace in the outgone year.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Sheriff Oborevwori, has promised that the legislature would continue to have a cordial relationship with the executive and implored Deltans to keep hope alive in the New Year, as better days are ahead for them.

He commended the government for giving the people a better deal in the last two years, noting that in spite of the harsh economic situation in the country, the state government discharged its responsibilities to the people in 2017.

“The state government has done well and should be commended. The executive and the legislature would continue to work on the same page for the good of our people,” he added.
