Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, yesterday inaugurated a 46-member Transition Committee, with a mandate to study the present structure of government as regards its adequacy or otherwise and recommend the way forward.

Ortom also said the committee is expected to provide further impetus for his administration to re-organise and re-energise the machinery of government in order to consolidate on the gains of the last four years.

He advised members to work collectively as a team, so that their individual capacities could be fully harnessed with a view to developing a comprehensive document that would guide the government towards providing improved services to the state.

As part of its terms of reference, Ortom charged them to evaluate the number, composition and membership of the state’s Statutory Commissions and review the Benue State Development Plan tagged: Our Collective Vision for a New Benue.

He also charged the committee members to suggest alternative ways of funding development projects and payment of salaries, pensions and gratuity arrears to public servants, as well as suggest ways of enhancing revenue generation.
