Orphan needs N12 million to undergo kidney transplant abroad
An 18-year-old orphan, Victor Iloba, who is in dire need of N12 million to undergo kidney transplant in India, has appealed to kind-hearted Nigerians to come to his aid in order to live a normal life again.
Life took a different turn for him when he collapsed in the examination hall while writing this year’s West African Examination Council (WAEC) at Community High School, Ojodu Abiodun, Ogun State, on April 5, 2017.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH). At LUTH, he was diagnosed of End Stage Renal Disease and was recommended to start dialysis immediately for at least three times a week and the end result of transplant.
He has since been on admission at the hospital for months during which he had to undergo dialysis twice a week, pending when he would raise the needed amount required to undergo the surgery abroad.
According to his elder sister, Augustina Iloba, due to the family’s inability to pay for the medical bills, they are seeking the help of ‘The Jesus Vessel,’ a ministry, which empowers children and teenagers and render financial support to orphans and the less privileged.
“They are the ones who have taken it upon themselves to assist my brother by taking care of his immediate need of dialyzing him twice a week and purchasing drugs, which sum up to over N120,000 weekly.
“The doctors have advised that we raise a minimum of N12,000,000 for the transplant abroad and it is unfortunate that The Jesus Vessel does not have the financial capacity to continue the dialysis let alone fund the transplant and we have solicited for funds via media houses and the response has been slow.”
Even in the face of the life-threatening ailment, Victor said he is determined to get over his predicament and contribute his quota to the welfare of his family and the larger society. His details are Victor Iloba Foundation, FCMB, 4765816011
