FORMER Head of Service of the Federation, Steve Oronsaye, who was interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in relation with ongoing investigation into alleged multi billion naira pension scam said, yesterday, that some people are out to silence him because of some of the reforms he initiated while in service.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the former HoS said the plot to silence him was hatched in Kaduna in June.

He traced his travails to the letter he wrote December 10, 2009, expressing concerns about pension administration for retired public servants.

That letter to former National Security Adviser (NSA) to late president Yar’Adua, Maj. Gen. Abdullahi Mukhtar, was the precursor to eventual reforms in the Civil Service payment system and the exposure of monumental corruption in the pension administration of the service.

Similarly, the then HoS also wrote to the then chair of the EFCC, Mrs. Farida Waziri, in a letter (reference HCSF/061/S.1/VI/54) dated November 8, 2010, stating: “It will be appreciated if the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) cause an investigation into the matter with a view to resolving all the issues and possibly prosecuting all those found culpable.”

The statement also explained the role Oronsanye played between May-July 2010, when his office embarked on biometric capturing of pensioners under the auspices of the OHCSF, in order to update the records for efficient and prompt payment of pension entitlements. This led to the setting up of a Pension Task Team (PTT) under the chairmanship of Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina, then Head of the Customs, Immigration and Prisons Pension Office (CIPPO).

Sunny Ade’s song: “One with God is a majority, ipin ai’se ni o pa alaroka.” Take heart -” He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”

ORONSAYE, YOU HAVE NOW BEEN CAUGHT OUT.

SHUT UP WITH YOUR DIVERSION TACTICS AND EXPLAIN YOUR ILL-GOTTEN WEALTH WITHOUT SUCH LAME AND USELESS STORIES.

THE MAIN FOCUS HERE IS HOW YOU ENRICHED YOURSELF??

YOU APPEAR TO BE A BIG-TIME CORRUPT THIEF. DO NOT CRY WOLF, FACE THE JUSTICE AND GET PREPARED FOR CONFISCATION OF ALL YOUR LOOT AND ASSETS AND IN THAT CASE, A LONG-TERM WELL- DESERVED PRISON SENTENCE.

HOW ABOUT THAT FOR A CHANGE, CORRUPT OLD BOY.

It amazes me how quickly people jump to conclusion. Let Oronsaye be investigated first and wait for the outcome before you take sides.

This case is still before the Courts, why not fully defend yourself before the Courts first. After all who are the “they”? Is it that person who asserted before the Senate Committee that he gave you funds to travel to the US with a Verification team but never even left your garage? The charges are fairly clear, it is on the contract for the Verification of Pensioners not about the ghosts that ate up the Pensioners Funds sir.

its tough… the civil service is very tough and very slippery.
he is saying some smart things but it’ll be missed on the masses because they do not actually know what is important.
    the 80 / 20 principle will be at work…
    – remove subsidy
    – break up nnpc
    – make pensions (DC and under pencom) and salaries biometric and first line charge by-law
    – force proper state budgeting.. peer benchmarking..
if he did this, we would get far… but i think that the corruption problem will remain even after pmb’s tenure.

This man reformed pensions system with the use of biometrics, my dad that was a pensioner that didn’t received pension for over two years , with the sudden disappearance of his name from pension list in his bank, and subsequent diversion of his pension payments to another bank by scammers at the HOS office, got his looted pension funds and have been receiving his monthly pensions and doing annual biometrics verifications. These people want to plunge the county to the dark days again.
