Orji donates N6m to students, hinges national growth on education
Senator for Abia Central and immediate past governor of the state, Theodore Orji has described education as the great engine of personal development positing that the foundation for the growth of any nation is the education of its citizenry particularly the youths.
He consequently called for mass investment in education stressing that it is also the bedrock of all human endeavors. He spoke at his constituency office in Umuahia while disbursing cheques to 2018 beneficiaries of his annual N24m tertiary education scholarships for 240 students of the six LGAs that constitute his Abia central senatorial districts.
180 out of 240 students have so far benefited from the scheme that began in 2016 and is being managed by a Committee headed by former state Commissioner, Emma Nwabuko who is now the Principal Secretary to the current state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.
Ikpeazu who graced the ceremony and commended Orji for his gesture said that without the scholarship, the beneficiaries might not have accessed tertiary education.
